Just last week, I managed to visit this bulk store in South Jakarta that I’ve been wanting to visit since weeks ago. The name is Naked Inc. You can find this particular environment-friendly store within Como Park, adjacent to Secret Gelato and the famous dog park of Como.
Bulk store, you see, is a concept store, that has been starting to pop up in Jakarta, where the store allows you to buy stuff you want, while making you do good for the environment by bringing your own bags and container to store them goodies. Each products that they sell in Naked Inc. are sold by the grams. Each grams of something will cost differently and you can find out how much they cost by looking at the price written on the product’s container.
For those of you who happen to stumble upon the store and not bringing any containers, worry not because they sell empty mason jars that will only cost you Rp30.000,00 to store your pasta and pink salt with. Or, if you’re feeling slightly fancy, you can buy a more sophisticated mason jar with fancy lid on it with an addition of Rp15.000,00. Don’t have any bags to store them jars? Get them exclusive tote bag of Naked Inc. as well while you’re at it! True, it may cost you a lot on your first purchase, but as you get the hang of it, the simpler and more environmental-friendly your shopping session for kitchen needs will be.
I got the chance to buy some dried Rosella tea the other day. On the container was written the number combination of “397”, which to my surprise was the price of the dried tea per gram - as in Rp397,00 per gram. You can actually buy a gopek (“gopek” is what we Indonesian refer Rp500,00 in the shape of coin to) worth of tea! How awesome is that? Long story short, I got myself 20 grams of it for less than ten thousand rupiah and I couldn’t be any happier.
No fuss whatsoever, I only have to boil some water and put one clove into my cup of hot water and voila! my tea is served. The flavor of the Rosella tea is very subtle, I might have to use two cloves to bring out the flavor more the next time I make myself some tea. It tasted rather fruity, with mild acidity that reminds me of the sourness of strawberries, yet it smelled very pungent when it’s dry. I don’t use any sugar on my tea because I’ve been cutting my sugar intake since years ago. I usually have my tea in the morning before work with a couple of cigarettes. Man, the combination is blissful.

Naked Inc. will turn the lights off in their store past 8 PM, so don't be fooled by thinking that the store is close. Just give a little knock on the door, then shop away!
