Afternoon Refreshments

It all started with an acknowledgement of something. Then, the craving hits you. It was ignorable at first, but the more you ignore it, the more you want to have it. Your fingers are all fidgety and you can't help but to pull up a sour-looking face. The fact that you're starting to act and behave like Smeagol, obsessed and tormented, is deniable. You want to be with your precious, just like Smeagol and the ring. But this time, it wasn't the ring. It was the cupcake.

A nice red velvet cupcake ready to be enjoyed

Congratulation for Gudang Rottie for their new dessert, the almighty Red Velcet cupcake! My cousin, Nuning, and I went to the cafe, and get ourselves some drinks and a plate of this beautiful cupcake. The red velvet was topped with a generous amount of cream cheese and cake sprinkles, which made the two of us flustered on how to consume such dessert.

Gudang Rottie's Red Velvet cupcake tasted sweet and very enjoyable. I'm certain that the chef used a handful of Javanese Sugar, or Palm Sugar which most of you are probably familiar with, because you can definitely tell it from the sweet flavor of the cake. You won't notice the palm sugar during your first few bites though. But the last five bites would be a bit disturbing, as you try to recall what flavor the cupcake is for those who aren't familiar with such type of sugar.

The swirling cream on top of the cupcake was cream cheese, mixed with your regular cream so that it won't taste far salty or savory from the cake itself. I was a bit disappointed though, because I was expecting some cheesy cream. This one tasted more like a vanilla cream. The cream sure smelled nice and sweet, but at certain parts you can definitely smell the tangy cream cheese.

Just look at the cream and cake crumbs, generously decorating
the upper part of the cupcake

I was not in the mood for a glass of Gudang Rottie's famous Iced Chocolate Volcano, so I ordered myself a refreshing glass of Lychee Iced Tea. I don't usually drink lychee iced tea, but when I do I get addicted. It was very refreshing, fairly cold and sweet. The drink maker generously added a couple of sliced lychee to the drink, making it look more attractive and more refreshing.

Lychee Tea, my second favorite tea after Lemon Tea

I spotted some lychee!

Tea time was great! Gudang Rottie sure have some interesting menu at their place. Buns, steaks, cakes, cupcakes, brownies, they have it all! If you're looking forward to have a nice tea time with your family and friends, you can definitely stop by at Gudang Rottie. For more information, you can check the bakery's Twitter here.

KueKue - Homemade Indulging Treats

Who would say "nay" to a delicious tray of genuine desserts from France in which would make you go "Oh la la", or a wide varieties of cupcakes that comes in exquisite and mouth-watery appearance? Just imagine the sweet taste of the cupcake crumbles that explodes into fragments of flavors in your mouth, the soft and gooey macaroon fillings that goes swell with the crunchy outer shell of this marvelous snack, and the chocolate cream of eclairs that would make you want to devour the pastry as if it were your prey. Don't you have the urge to taste all of those delicious food right at this moment? Today is your lucky day because KueKue has dozens of its homemade treats waiting for you.

KueKue provides you homemade indulging
treats that come in numerous varieties

Darmawangsa Square is the home to this wonderful little food stall. The appealing white wagon, which located right beside the west entrance door, will immediately take over your attention when you stepped in to the city walk. The white wagon is decorated with jars of cookies, dozens of cake pops, and mini boxes of macaroons on top. Adjacent to it, is a medium-sized cake-display fridge that is used to display the rest of the cakes and to keep it from expiring.

Macaroons come in different choice of colors and flavors at KueKue. Each macaroons costs Rp10.000,00 but it is worth it because this scrumptious dessert is beyond delicious. It is crunchy on the outside and gooey on the inside, and it will make your heart flutters with joy on your first bite. Just make sure you don't gulped down the whole thing immediately. Macaroons are small, and it is not even as big and wide as your palm, so you have to savor it bite by bite.

This is one of my favorite macaroons of
KueKue, the Hazelnut Macaroon

Cupcakes, on the other hand, cost you more than the macaroons. Rp25.000,00 is pretty expensive for a cupcake, but you will not regret spending such amount of money for KueKue's famous cupcake. This franchise is famous for its Red Velvet Cheesecake Cupcake. It is similar to your regular red velvet cupcake, but it is using the same basic ingredients that you use to make cheese cake cupcakes. Its Rainbow Cupcake is also famous for its adorable appearance and rich flavors. This cupcake got its name from its colorful cupcake base, which is similar to rainbows.

two Hazelnut Macaroons, and a Vanilla Ice Macaroon

Why drink vodka during a heartbreak when you can
have KueKue's famous Red Velvet Cheesecake Cupcake instead?

It is highly recommendable for you to visit this cake kiosk, for it has such delicious desserts. Sure, it is a bit expensive, but I see nothing wrong with enjoying ourselves once in a while. Just remember to savor the flavor bite by bite, and don't just bluntly eat the whole cake. Happy Tuesday, everybody!
