Wonka's Sour Nerds: Scrumdiddlyumptious

Why did I bought this candy? At first, its' eye-catching physique captured my attention. Then I notice the interesting flavors of the candy, "amped apple" and "lightning lemon". Sure, they probably just give a little twist to the names of the artificial flavor, but it looked pretty promising for me. A second later, I found out that it's one of Willy Wonka's products. Since I haven't try any kinds of Wonka-related sweets, I grabbed a box of this neon-colored candy and put it in the grocery cart. 

Wonka's Sour Nerds

Who is Willy Wonka, you asked? Willy Wonka is a fictional character crated by Roald Dahl, a British novelist who wrote great children books, such as "James and the Giant Peach" and "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory". Willy Wonka here is an important character in the book "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory". In the story, Wonka is a genius who has this big big chocolate factory, where he creates unique sweets unlike any other. For an example, there is this gum named "3-Course-Meal" Gum that another character in the story ate. First it tasted like a bowl of tomato soup, then followed by a nice taste of roasted beef, and last ended with a big smack of blueberry pie. How awesome is that, right? That is just one of the examples of a genius Willy Wonka can be. 

Even though Willy Wonka is merely a fictional character, thanks to Nestlé, we can all taste how exclusive Wonka's candies tasted like. Lucky for me, I stumbled upon one of their products at the grocery store this afternoon, which is Wonka's Sour Nerds, and immediately clutched a pack.

"Inside this Scrumdiddlyumptious package you will find mystic & marvelous surprises that will entrance, intrigue & delight you beyond measure". Scrumdiddlyumptious! Don't you just love the sound of that? It's like hearing "Supercalifragilisticexpealidocious" from Marry Poppins' brother-from-another-mother. 

I have never seen a pack of candy like Wonka's Sour Nerds before. To open this thin bright-colored box, you have to tear the middle top of the packaging, then slide two openings to unload both flavors. The lightning lemon candies are on the left, untouched by the amped apple on the right. It's a smart package though, because we can mix the candies by ourselves. We can also share the candies with our friends if we happen to like only one flavor, while your friend fancy the other. See! Smart packaging!

Peek-a-boo!

I like both flavors and I prefer to mix them all together before I eat it, because it would kind of balance the flavor. The lightning lemon is plain sour, while amped apple has a hint of sweetness in it. If we mix both candies and scoop it up in our mouth, then it will taste evenly sweet and sour. I like this candy!

On the contrary, this candy is made out of food coloring, artificial flavor, sugar, and unhealthy chemical foodstuff, so you might want to control the amount of candies you have. Other than the fact that it's bad for your health, you might end up with cavities. You don't want that to happen, do you?

All in all, my first Wonka sweets was great! Unfortunately, Nestlé hasn't been able to actually make the "3-Course-Meal" Gum. But I heard they are still working on it and that the chance of the gum might be produce exists. Fingers crossed!
